Launching the Alan Kay Revival Project

We are excited to announce the launch of the "Alan Kay Revival Project," an initiative dedicated to unlocking the future of computing.

At Flagship, we develop and operate EC systems guided by our purpose "Develop Maps" While our company actively pursues both the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and contemplation of future innovations, this project represents a key part of our exploration into advanced technological thinking.

The philosophy of Alan Kay, who pioneered the concept of personal computing, is fundamental to exploring technology's possibilities and provides crucial insights for charting our "undiscovered maps." His "Dynabook" concept became the foundation for today's tablets and smartphones.

The project will feature monthly themed discussions where we'll both dive deep into Kay's ideas and explore their connections to contemporary technology. Through sharing these insights, we aim to gain fresh perspectives on future technology and its applications, ultimately driving innovations that benefit society.

Alan Kay, the father of personal computing, envisioned our modern multimedia society. His 1968 Dynabook concept, through its intersection with entrepreneur Steve Jobs, catalyzed massive innovation in the computer industry, leading to today's world where smartphones and massive data exchange are universal.

Despite his monumental achievements, surprisingly few people know of Alan Kay, and even those familiar with his name often regard him as merely a historical figure. However, as his papers clearly demonstrate, his insights are fundamentally transformative and hold eternal value. Understanding Alan Kay's work dramatically deepens one's grasp of computer science and expands possibilities for social implementation.

Driven by our desire to share Alan Kay's achievements with a wider audience, Flagship Inc. is launching the "Alan Kay Revival Project." We will host regular monthly study sessions and share our findings. We hope this initiative will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Japan's computer industry.
